Seek First the Kingdom

An author once said, “Our thoughts are shaping unmade spheres, and, like a blessing or a curse, they thunder down the formless years and ring throughout the universe.” I couldn’t agree more to this aphorism. Until you seek first the concept of the being you wish to be in your thought, nothing will be added to you.

The present imperative verb “seek” and the adverb “first” makes clear that the concept of being wished must be pursued with rigour and intense concentration. Your thoughts should be preponderate on the concept of the being wished.

Neither shall they say, lo here! Or, lo there! For, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

All transformation begins with an intense desire within, and materializes without. You must want, with all intents and purposes to be the concept of the wish desired. You must make your desired wish a present reality. You do this by seeking first the concept of the being you wish to become in your thoughts, and assuming the feeling of your wish fulfilled. It is the formless thoughts of your mind from which you are to shape your reality.

In The book “Man’s Search for Meaning,” Viktor Frankl wrote: “The last of the human freedom [is] to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstance.” Likewise, the concept of the being you wish to become depends on your attitude towards yourself in attaining it. That concept of being which you will not affirm as true of yourself can never materialize in the physical plain of existence.

The priority here is to seek first in your thought the ideal person you want to become. And you must seek first from the book of infinite intelligence, and assume upon the feeling that you already are; then live by faith in this assumption. If you persist upon this assumption, the attainment of your wish is absolutely inevitable.

In this exercise, the key to attaining your ideal person is to know [the revelation of the truth] and persist upon the feeling assumed of this truth. For, “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” The path of those that have discovered the truth is as the shining light, that shines more and more unto the perfect day.”

Admit and affirm in your consciousness the concept of being you wish to become. And it must follow as the night, the day; and it will inevitably materialize. For the physical plain of reality is a magnified lens, magnifying everything thought and imagination in your mind.

Henry Van Dyke wrote the following lines: “I hold it true that thought are things; they are endowed with bodies and breath and wings: and that we send them forth to fill the world with results, or ill. That which we call our secret thoughts speeds forth to earth’s remotest spot, leaving its blessing or its woes like tract behind it as it goes. We build our future, thought by thought, for good or ill, yet know it not. Yet so the universe was wrought. Thought is another name for fate; choose then thy destiny and wait, for love brings love and hate brings hate.”

Put slightly differently, the habitual thoughts in your mind will be reincarnated with all its physical fancies in the material world.

Again, seek first the kingdom entails that you must first gain a disciplined, orderly, and constructive mental image of the concept of being you wish to become. And your desired mental image will be given its fancies in reality.
